WASHINGTON, NC -- If I seemed a little reactionary about the cold and ice in that last post about our icy little corner of the world, this may shed a little more light on the cranky me.

When I was posting those, I was already taking these, just a week between events. This Southerner is just not prepared for such foolishness.

We HAVE gotten a couple of positives from this weather: the largest invasion of purple finches and pine siskins we’ve had in a while and a good batch of snowcream. Thanks, Kitty, for making it bearable.

By the way, we call our home in Washington the Treehouse, though it’s not actually shoved up a tree.

In honor of my friend George Lottermoser--the Ice King.

One of our many purple finches hanging out this winter.
