RALEIGH, NC -- Every year during the Department of Agriculture’s Got To Be NC festival, the Freemasons of North Carolina have a big cook-off to pick the best barbecue in the state.

Attendees enjoy a small scale, off-season State Fair at the Fairgrounds here in the capital. Folks get to enjoy the best chicken and pork and sample regional specialties. But nobody has as much fun as the teams from lodges around the state who stay up late, enjoy each other’s company, and meet great friends they never saw before.

Charities, including the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford and Central Children’s Home get the financial benefits of the fun from the tickets sold and entry fees of the contestants.
