WASHINGTON, NC -- Buildings often hide their history. In their death throes, history may be rolled back as layers are peeled away.


This building at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets is giving way to something new. It began life as a service station and was last a restaurant. Several incarnations intervened. It’s razing revealed some of its stages and created unintended abstract works of art.

A patchwork of textures were revealed.
